UIDAI launches new mAadhaar app for iOS and Android smartphones The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has recently launched a new update to its mAadhaar app for iOS and Android users.

This new update enables all the Aadhar cardholders to access their Aadhar ID details on a single-window for all Aadhar related online services on their smartphones.

One can install the mAadhaar App from Google Playstore and App Store for iPhone. mAadhaar app requires Android 5.0 and up and iOS 10.0 or later. mAadhaar app is compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

According to UIDAI, Aadhaar card app users should delete the older app and install the new version immediately.

The new version of the ‘mAadhaar App’ will help you to carry your Aadhaar Card information in the form of a soft copy.

The latest version of the mAadhaar app has two major sections – first is Aadhaar Services Dashboard.

The second section ‘My Aadhaar Section’ serves as a personalized space for users and allows them to add profiles for any selected Aadhaar holder on the app.

The updated mobile app makes it easier for cardholders to carry their 12-digit unique identity number in a digital form.

The new app provides important personal information like – Name, Gender, Photograph, Date of Birth and Address on a smartphone and is available for download on both Android’s App Store and IOS’ Play Store.

Users must take note that mAadhaar does not work offline. It needs to be connected with the internet to download data from UIDAI.

With the mAadhaar app, users can now carry the soft copy of the Aadhaar card and can leave the original physical copy at home. This is also helpful for those who do not have the original physical Aadhaar card with them when needed.

# Download and install the mAadhaar app from respective app stores.

# Open the app and under the ‘Services’ section, tap on ‘Download Aadhaar’ option.

# Under Download Aadhaar page, there will be three options – Aadhaar Number, Virtual ID (VID) Number and Enrolment ID Number.

# To download Aadhaar using Aadhaar number, tap on the respective option and enter Aadhaar Number, followed by Security captcha and tap on Request OTP.

# Similarly, tap on VID option and enter VID number along with captcha and tap on Request OTP

# If you are looking to download Aadhaar using the Enrolment ID number, make sure to keep details like date and time of enrollment handy along with EID number.

# Enter the OTP received on your registered mobile number

# Now, a new window will appear suggesting the password combination to unlock the download Aadhaar file.

The twelve Indian languages are Hindi, Urdu, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Gujarati, Punjabi, Marathi, Odia, Assamese, and Bengali.

Users must remember input fields in the forms that will accept data entered in English only to avoid challenges of typing in regional languages.

# Users can avail of several services in the mAadhaar App. In the mAadhaar App, the services such as ‘Main Service Dashboard’, ‘Request Status Services’, and ‘My Aadhaar’ are available.

# You can lock or temporarily unlock your biometrics anytime through this mAadhaar app.

# Multi-profile service is available in the mAadhaar App. Aadhaar cardholders can add profiles up to 3 with the same registered mobile number in their profile section.

# In case Aadhaar OTP is not sent to your mobile number due to some issues, you can use the Time-based OTP (TOTP) facility of the mAadhaar app, which is valid only for 30 seconds.

# mAadhaar allows users to share their details using the QR code, thus preventing any data leak.

# A user can share his eKYC through message or email directly.

# mAadhaar app is very helpful for Indian Railways passengers. One can show this as a proof of identity for undertaking journey in any reserved class in Indian Railways trains


The mAadhaar app weighs 51MB on the Play Store and it requires smartphones running on Android 5.0 Lollipop and above.

On App Store, the app weighs 34.9MB and it can run on iPhones and iPads running on iOS 10 or above.
