What is WhatsApp ‘Send Messages’ feature?
The administrator now has the power to disable the chat features in the group. It means that all other participants when “Only Admins” is selected for the Send Messages option, would not be able to send in the group text messages, images, videos, voice, messages, etc.
How the new Send Messages feature works?
# In order to use this feature, you need to be an admin of a group on WhatsApp.
# Open a WhatsApp Group
# Then go into Group Info > tap Group Settings > Send Messages.
# Clicking it will reveal two options: All Participants – to enable messaging for all members of the group, and Only Admins – to restrict messaging to only the group’s admins.
# Change in settings will be notified in the group through a broadcast message.
# Additionally, if the latter option is chosen, an “Only admins can send messages”prompt will replace the message field.
For your ease,
Update the app to the latest version
–go to settings
–open group info
–tap of group settings
–click on send messages
–select “Only admins” option
Group Settings also has the Edit Group Info option that allows admins to controls whether all participants can edit the group’s description or not. Both these features are accessible even if there is only one admin in the group.
In case someone wants to message something urgently in the group, he or she will have to contact the admin so that they can enable the option for all participants. “When you send a message to an administrator through the group, you are quoting the group”.
How Can People use the ‘Send Messages’ feature for multiple purposes?
For example, if you are a group administrator, you can enable this option to send important messages in the group without being interrupted by other messages, or you can decide to “close” the group at night to block any message, so the next morning there won’t be messages in the group.
If you are the group administrator and you shared the group invite link to third parties, you can also decide to close the group at night for blocking possible spam contacts that might join the group when you’re sleeping (absolutely normal if you have shared the group invites link on the Internet). In this case, spam contacts can still join the group, but they won’t be able to send messages.
To activate the new feature, make sure your smartphone is updated with the latest software put out by WhatsApp. The new ‘Send Messages’ tab is available on version 2.18.70 on iPhone and version 2.18.201 on Android. The feature will be released soon for users of the stable version of Android 2.18.191 soon, as well as for Windows Phone.
