WhatsApp may soon let you block chat screenshots

WhatsApp may soon let you block chat screenshots WhatsApp is currently developing the authentication feature for its Android app that would allow users to unlock the app through the device’s fingerprint sensor, but it will restrict them to take screenshots of their chats.

According to a report by WABetainfo, the WhatsApp is now planning to add a function to the feature, which will block users from taking screenshots in the chats if authentication is enabled.

It means if a Whatsapp user uses the authentication feature to lock their app, then you will not be able to take a screenshot of any WhatsApp chat.

But, WhatsApp will not block the other person (receiver) from taking a screenshot if their Authentication feature is on.

Additionally, after enabling the Authentication feature, one will be able to reply to a message via the Notifications bar. Interestingly, you will also be able to answer calls if WhatsApp is locked.

WhatsApp is soon expected to unveil this feature for Android Platform. This feature is currently under the development phase and has been spotted in 2.19.106 WhatsApp beta version for Android.

How this WhatsApp fingerprint lock feature will work?

WhatsApp may soon let you block chat screenshots

# When you enable fingerprint authentication under the Security settings of WhatsApp, the app will show the message that enabling the setting will block screenshots.

# After turning the feature on, if you press the combination of buttons to screenshot chats, a message will pop up saying “Can’t take screenshot due to security policy” and the screenshot will not be taken.

Notably

The Fingerprint Lock feature is expected to increase the privacy and security of WhatsApp users, but there is no information on why WhatsApp is planning to add this block chat screenshots feature.

WhatsApp may soon let you block chat screenshots as per the report, the authentication feature is not available in the 2.19.106 Android beta update yet. It is still under development and will be available soon in the future.

Apart from the screenshot blocking feature, WhatsApp may be working on something more with the new WhatsApp Doodle UI feature.

WhatsApp Doodle UI in Android beta

# The update includes improvements to the WhatsApp doodle UI which is a feature of the image edit screen where users can add stickers, emojis, text, and hand-drawn content.

# Updating from 2.19.71 Android beta version to 2.19.106, users will have an interface for sharing media.

# There will be two tabs to choose between Stickers and Emojis.

# Stickers will be grouped by “Favourites” and “Category”, so users can easily find the stickers.

# The new doodle UI allows users to put stickers over the images, videos and GIFs they send in a chat, as per the report of WABetainfo.

# WhatsApp has also added a search feature to its sticker and emoji search, that would essentially allow users to quickly search for the sticker or emoji that they were looking for without having to go through all the emojis all at once.

Notably

This feature is already available on WhatsApp’s iOS app and it was first spotted in its Android app last month.

If you want to see how the updated doodle UI works, you will have to download WhatsApp Beta for Android version 2.19.106.
